There is a lot of information about fashion out there. I was nervous at first about not having enough information but now i know that is not a problem. I am still sort of nervous about what topic to concentrate on, i don't want my paper to be all over the place, i need to find a way all of these topics i want to discuss can flow together. I have become more interested and excited as my research progresses.

Richard Watkin’s article response

I really liked the ideas expressed in this article. As a future teacher i think it is very important to teach on a level at which connects with your current students. I love the end of his article where he makes the comment "could spark interest in otherwise dormant writers". That is such a true statement, and sometimes a student just needs something they can connect with, to get them interested in a subject they never were before. If a student can feel they will succeed at writing using multi -literacies instead of just the traditional form of composition, it may be the trigger they need to be a great writer. Also there was a good point made in the article which we also brought up in class, about how children in this day and age are surrounded by multimedia and to bring them into a classroom where they are not hit with a ton of different medias and just the old school ways of composition, they are going to become bored and uninterested. As educators we need to keep up with our students interest, and by adding these visual texts is a great way to stay connected with them.

Journal 1

I have been thinking about my topics for my adv. comp research paper, and i think i want to research the history of mathematics. I found an awesome library webpage for a section in cech library with awesome historical math textbooks. I am not sure of specific ideas that i want to research within this topic yet, but i would definitely want to look at how different the texts are from todays mathematics.
I felt like this would be very interesting to me because i am going to be a math teach, but on the other hand i sort of wanted to do something not involving my content areas, since most of the research i do involves math or english. This is my chance to write about anything, but i am having a hard time think of anything else. Some thoughts i have that are not very thought out yet are maybe the history of fashion, how it has progressed but then seem to repeat itself. Or something with fashion, the way manufacturing has changed, marketing procedures, social class who wore certain fashions.
These are just some ideas, very different ones, but both i find interesting.
